Every week we email three prompts from three different kinds of story — a mystery, a fable, something from your own street — and your child picks one. The pieces start at one page and grow.
Weeks 22 and 23 have no new writing at all. They read the whole thing aloud, mark every place they got bored, and then cut. It is the part that turns a long story into a book, and almost no child is ever taught it.
If your child has never written much beyond school work, start with Storyteller. Twelve weeks is long enough to build the habit and find out whether they enjoy it.
Choose Young Author if they already write for pleasure, or if writing a book of their own is the thing that made them sit up. The first twelve weeks are identical either way — and you can move up at the end of week twelve for the difference in price, not the full amount.
Your access code arrives by email within seconds, with a one-page plan of the whole journey. Week one's prompts reach you the next morning, and a new set every week after that — nothing to keep track of.
Your child writes by hand, you photograph the pages and send them in, and Anuradha writes back. There is no app to install and no password to remember.
Nobody is counting. A child who sends eight pieces still gets eight proper replies. Live sessions run once a fortnight and we send dates well ahead; missing one breaks nothing.
We do not offer refunds once the journey begins, and would rather say so plainly than bury it — Anuradha holds a place and reads every piece herself. But if something serious happens, write to her. We will pause the journey and pick it up whenever you are ready.
Sessions are grouped by age, from 6 to 15. A little either side is usually fine — write to Anuradha and she will tell you honestly whether it will suit.
Cameras and microphones are entirely optional. Plenty of children prefer to listen and write with theirs off.
